A settlement the dark emptied: the first sign that people once lived here, and a few still do.

Past the forest the trees give way to roofless houses and a square gone to weeds. Most of the town fled when the shards' glow drew the moonborn in; the rest never made it out. Here Moonhead first crosses paths with the people still clinging to the thin daylight hours, and learns why the whispers matter to anyone but itself.
